In the mid-1990s, a group was formed in Tehran under the name "Mahdaviyat," claiming that the awaited Khorasani sign in Mahdist traditions referred to a person named Mohammad Hosseini Milani. The present research investigates the intellectual and social consequences of this group. The central issue of the research is how "matching" (the act of applying prophetic signs of the Reappearance to contemporary figures) can lead to ideological deviations and extreme behaviors in society. The research methodology is descriptive-analytical, utilizing a documentary approach and a case study. The findings demonstrate that by applying the signs of the Reappearance to himself and claiming deputyship, Milani undermined the status of the jurists, promoted false sanctity and the discourse of takfir (excommunication), and paved the way for sectarian violence and criminal acts. Ultimately, the research process proves that extreme "matching" is a serious threat to the epistemological health and social security of the Islamic community.
